Marenco SwissHelicopter announced a new highly modified, high-visibility cockpit (HVC) for its SKYe SH09 helicopter at Heli-Expo which will include two of Sagem’s 10-inch displays oriented vertically on a narrowed instrument console, which provides a significant increase in forward visibility through a completely retooled, now nearly all-glass nose bowl. The helicopter is expected to cruise at 140 knots (260 km/h) and has an expected range in excess of 430 nm (800 km). Manufacturer Marenco Swisshelicopter said it booked orders for 23 SKYe SH09 helicopters at Heli-Expo 2012, bringing the company’s backlog to 34 helicopters. The first SH09 prototype is currently being assembled near Zurich, Switzerland, and the company aims to fly it by year-end. Certification is slated for 2014, with deliveries of the eight-place, $3 million SH09 slated to start in 2015.
