The first Bombardier Learjet 85 wing shipment arrived yesterday at the company’s Wichita assembly line and is now in the process of being readied for mating to the composite fuselage of flight test vehicle one (FTV1). HyperMach Aerospace announced a new configuration for its SonicStar supersonic business jet that will boost the aircraft’s top speed by more than 10 percent, to Mach 4.5. It would seat up to 32 passengers, up from the original 20. Meanwhile, the larger fuselage and swooped delta wings also allow for more onboard fuel that in turn stretches the originally specified 6,000-nm range by another 500 nm. Sanlorenzo just delivered to her owner in Hong Kong its first SD122, a 38-meter in composite material with semi-displacement hull. After 39 days of cruising through the Suez Canal and the Indian Ocean, with calls at Singapore and Jakarta up to China, Lady Cecilia arrived safely in Hong Kong where, thanks to imposing and precise handling operations, the motor yacht was finally laid down on the water in order to reach her owner. The arrival of Lady Cecilia in Hong Kong represents another important result for the Italian shipyard in terms of sales network growth towards the Far East and the so called “emerging markets”, where Sanlorenzo has recently sold to an Hong Kong owner as well a beautiful 46Steel (46-meter motor yacht in steel with displacement hull, three decks) that will be delivered in 2014.

Italian builder Sanlorenzo has revealed that it is building a total of five hulls spanning three new models.
‘Two SL 118 and two SD 110 are sold and under construction,’ says Massimo Perotti, CEO of Sanlorenzo. ‘We will launch them together next year, in our annual event during the 2013 Monaco Yacht Show.’
Both are new sizes in established Sanlorenzo lines. In addition, the yard is continuing its foray into explorer yachts – the 38Exp was unveiled at last year’s Monaco Yacht Show – with the commissioned build of the 42m 42Exp. Sanlorenzo has opened the new direct sales office, Atelier Sanlorenzo, located in the prestigious port Carlo Riva in Rapallo, Italy.
Described as an ‘authentic yacht boutique’, Atelier Sanlorenzo will be lead by a team of highly-skilled yacht experts: Nico Laude and Marco Fiorani (General Managers) and Gian Franco Crosta (Senior Sales Director).

Cessna is upgrading the Citation Sovereign midsize business jet with a switch to Garmin G5000 avionics, more powerful and efficient Pratt & Whitney engines and performance-boosting winglets. The change to Pratt & Whitney PW306D turbofan engines will increase the Sovereign’s range by 150 nautical miles, giving the airplane a total range of over 3,000 nm. The improved model will also boast better short-runway performance and add integrated autothrottles.
Cessna said it has already started flight testing the improved model and has set a price of $17.8 million. Entry into service of the first upgraded Sovereign is expected next summer. The new model will also be available in utility configuration, with options to carry payload, people or both depending on the mission requirements. Speedway Aviation in New Hampshire has placed the first U.S.-based order for the new EC145 Mercedes-Benz Style helicopter, featuring an exclusive, special edition package. The aircraft is the result of a collaborative effort between Eurocopter and Mercedes Benz, and is the third special edition EC145 Mercedes-Benz Style to be produced since its introduction in late 2010. At the NBAA Convention today, Dassault Falcon introduced yet another new version of its Falcon 2000 super-midsize twin. The new Falcon 2000LXS combines the range and amenities of the Falcon 2000LX with the short-field capabilities of the Falcon 2000S. The $32.8 million, Pratt & Whitney Canada PW308C-powered Falcon 2000LXS will replace the 2000LX when it gains certification in 2014.
As on the 2000S, the LXS features inboard leading-edge wing slats to reduce Vref speeds and takeoff and landing distances. Preliminary estimates indicate the 2000LXS will have a takeoff balanced field length of 4,675 feet at mtow, a landing distance of 2,300 feet and a Vref of 107 knots, a substantial difference from the performance of the 2000LX (5,750 feet, 2,730 feet and 116 knots, respectively).
Unlike the 2000S, the LXS achieves these performance numbers without compromising range or payload. Dassault engineers found ways to remove 300 pounds from the wing structure, even with the addition of winglets, and 100 pounds from the cabin interior. Consequently, they estimate with full fuel the LXS will still have a range of 4,000 nm (Mach 0.8, full fuel, six passengers, 85 percent Boeing annual winds, NBAA IFR reserves), an mtow of 42,800 pounds and a maximum payload of 2,190 pounds. Possible city pairs include New York-Anchorage, Singapore-Dubai and Beijing-Mumbai.

Bell Helicopter is to take part in the Monaco Yacht Show 2012, with a Bell 429 being put on display aboard one of the largest yachts afloat in Port Hercules. The Monaco Yacht Show, held Sept. 19-22, will see the 429 in corporate configuration as it is showcased on the helipad of the 220-foot. (67.15 meter) superyacht, Garcon. “Participating in this event gives us an opportunity to talk with our existing and potential customers, learn more about their plans and share our mutual goals for the future,” said Danny Maldonado, Bell Helicopter’s executive vice president of commercial sales and marketing. The Monaco Yacht Show is one of the most important events for the captains of the yacht industry. The prestigious event will host 500 exhibitors representing innovative products and luxury services from a variety of sectors. With 28,000 visitors representing nearly 40 countries at the event in 2011, even more are expected at this year’s show. “The Bell 429, our new light twin displayed at the Monaco Yacht Show, and the Bell 407GX can both be easily embarked on yachts and provide owners the flexibility to transport guests rapidly from an airport directly to the yacht to spend more time afloat,” said Patrick Moulay, Bell Helicopter’s managing director in Europe. “With its spacious cabin and its exceptional speed, the Bell 429 has been particularly successful among the VIP and yacht owners’ community. A specialist team drove Achilles to the Carrara Marina, across a road that rarely sees yachts of this size. Was the S-76D worth the wait? The short answer is… yes. You don’t just fly somewhere in an S-76–you arrive. It’s like the first time you slip into the back of a Rolls-Royce or check into a Ritz-Carlton. It’s as sleek and timeless as anything off the drawing board of Italy’s Pininfarina, the renowned automotive design house. And with a cruising speed of 155 knots, the S-76 remains one of the fastest twin-engine helicopters out there. The “D” was supposed to improve on this legacy with more powerful and fuel-efficient engines, more useful load, rotor blades with icing protection and intuitive avionics that would safely allow the helicopter to be flown single-pilot in instrument flight conditions. The new Silencer cabin shell keeps it noticeably quieter. Cabin options have kept pace with the times: LED lighting, satphone, monitors, beverage drawers and snack nooks, DVD and Blu-ray players, high-end speakers, luxurious leathers and expensive veneers. Seating configurations are from four to six–everything from two upholstered benches facing each other to opulent individual captain’s chairs. Cabin volume is 204 cubic feet, slightly larger than that of most entry-level jets. Each side of the cabin has a massive hinged door for easy entry/egress. Corporate operators who want plush seating for four to six can grab one for under $12 million. And for that price, you get a lot. Lammouche, seen here near Saint Tropez, is a 46 metres trideck semi-wide body displacement yacht, with a high tensile steel hull and aluminium superstructure. She was launched in February 2010 by Sanlorenzo, and delivered to her owner in the early summer of 2010. Lammouche's exterior design is by Viareggio Division Style, a department of Sanlorenzo. Lammouche is powered by two Caterpillar 2,040hp 3512B engines, which allow for a 17 knot top speed, and a cruising speed of 15 knots, which gives her a 2,000 miles.
